Just to make it clear to the speaker who came to our school a few weeks ago and said that since Rachel Maddow and Ellen DeGeneres have their own shows “it’s no big deal” to the U.S. population, here’s evidence of the fact that Rachel Maddow gets shit for being an out butch lesbian on national television. This is a screen cap from a comment thread on her show’s facebook page. No, I am not protecting this man’s identity. He thinks (and KNOWS) that he can get away with using a slur against a public figure on her show’s own damn facebook page. He’s voicing what a lot of people around the country are thinking. People in the comments thread who were defending and applauding her didn’t even counter it or admonish him for using that word against her. When the speaker first made the comment I was just annoyed, but now that I’m seeing someone call Rachel Maddow a dyke I’m mad.
I’m tired of straight feminists erasing the shit that lesbians get. Even Rachel Maddow can’t get a break.
